Herb: No and you are really bad at texting.

Adam: It’s called slang

Herb: Whatever, how do you feel being on the counsel!

Adam: It’s a lot of responsibility y am I on the counsel anyway..

Herb: You have made many important decisions and your at every meeting anyway.

Adam: So about what Brett said on the radio

Herb: Yes, you hit his tender spot.

Adam: I’m nervous. When is he coming and will I have the guts to kill him. What if he kills me or you or the whole community?

Herb: We are ready for him and we have eyes in the sky and the other communities helping out. Also I know you will do the right thing in the end.

In this post I’m going to be talking about my opinion on how they don’t let people into the community. They should maybe hold a mini screening, maybe ask what their jobs are, what experience they have with weapons, if they own any weapons, how much people are in their family and if they have food. Throughout the book they say that they can’t let them in theirs not enough this not enough that, they should have discussed this with the council. They let in people Lori knew because A: She knew them and B: They are farmers. Some people would have some useful gear and add to the community.

Their snowblowers could have been converted and they can trade you and maybe for trading they get some food and maybe a bow and arrow or a knife to defend themselves at least give some of the people outside of the the community food for something! If you can’t let them join permanently. People in the community have tents and they already have a house so maybe trade the tent or donate it to one of the families outside of the community.

This post will be on how this book relates to world issues. In this book there is a mass blackout and electronics have also stopped working in real life in 2013 in Toronto they had a massive ice storm and in some parts of Toronto they had a blackout for a few days, even weeks. And organizations and people set up stations for the people who were affected to have warmth and get supplies and that was in winter! No heat or anything, in this book it wasn’t very close to winter. Imagine if the blackout in Toronto was longer. Would be people rebel and do what happened in the book? Would people go to desperate measures? It’s a scary thought, the whole world suddenly goes into a blackout! When reading this book I thought of what would happen in my community and if this kind of thing was possible.

I found this article that kind of related to this issue if any of you are interested read it’s pretty interesting.

In this post I’m going to write about the antagonist which in this book there is two the escapee and the division. The antagonists are ruthless, like to kill, kill innocent people and they have no mercy. The escapee was part of the community but he went rogue and he loves to kill. He hates Adam, Herb, and Adam’s mother because Adam foiled his plan, Adam’s Mom was in charge of him and Herb suspected him. And in the book he calls  Adam a “little prince” and always competed with Adam and disliked him.

The escapee only cares about his life, and in a radio transmission he says to Adam, “I’m going to make you regret ever meeting me. Everyone one you know will regret it. Your mother, your father, your brother and sister will all pay for it. How’s Princess Lori? I’m going to make her pay as well… although she might enjoy it, you know, being with a real man.” The escapee is kind of full of himself and makes other people do his dirty work and always says he does it and gives the credit to himself.

Now about the division. Not much is known about them, they are heavily armed and have RPG’s high caliber rifles, they have armored vehicles and they have over 400 armed soldiers who don’t have mercy and can easily blow down the community's walls. The division was first discovered in the first book and in this book they bomb the division and the escapee takes over for the injured leader. They revealed that information over the radio through taunting the escapee on the radio.

One thing I would change in this book is the death of someone and that it would be later to experience something. I’m not going to say because some people in the class are reading the previous books. At the end something good happens and I just wish the person who died could see or know that it happened.

Spoilers alert don’t look if reading series

When the division and Brett manage to get in the walls they “surrender”and “put down their weapons” and Herb goes up to them Brett smiles pulls out a pistol and fires at herb then Adam shot Brett's head off, literally the whole top of his head was gone. Adam read the note that Herb saved for him and it turns out that herb had cancer and was estimated to die 2 to 6 months later. Right after Adam finished reading the note after that the lights flickered on and the. I wish Herb could’ve seen that the community had almost made it and all his hard work was worth it. And if the lights flickered then the lights would probably be close to coming back on

This book, The Will To Surviv3 is a very interesting, action packed and exciting book that is hard to put down. It just leaves you wanting to read more and for us Canadians it takes place in Mississauga so we can relate to it and to me I know what the world looks like and I can visually relate to it more than other books. It is very well written, good word use no mistakes. It doesn’t bore me some books during the talking scenes, I fall asleep because it’s just boring dialogue, but this book there was always a little bit of mystery and danger when talking to someone unknown.

I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 9. Everyone in our class should read it, it is honestly cheeky and amazing! The genre is dystopian and young adult, but there isn’t really a need for it to be young adult and just like any apocalyptic story there's a little romance but not a lot. No making out scenes or like stuff like that. Overall it’s a great book I would give it a 9.5 out of ten.

The main conflict throughout the series was the fight for food, defending their people and the other community attacking. The conflict in this book is kind of a mystery shooting and violence is happening and someone from within the community a prisoner got free and killed some guards and they see him around the walls. He's picking off the guards at one point using his sniper and Adam, Herb, and the committee are wondering if it is the escaped prisoner and his fellow prisoners are in the other community if the other community is reading for another raid/attack.

Adam and Herb are worried about what the prisoner can do and they know he's capable, he was one of the best soldiers and he’s gone rogue. I think that if the prisoner can find enough people and if the other community still has the rocket launchers and the high end military equipment and that the prisoner is the head and leader of the community. Adam and herbs community might not be able to withstand the attacks and these walls could be blown down. They are trying to fly and eliminate the prisoner. They talked with the committee and discussed if they should attack, but they think that the other community will be ready. It’s so good and I can’t tell you cause it will spoil, but I really want to explain RRRRR
(There was a few parts I really wanted to add, but it would be a little bit of a spoiler. YOU GUYS HAVE TO READ THIS SERIES AND IT’S BY ERIC WALTERS. HE’S A GREAT WRITER.)
